Summer 2016 Update

11th July 2016

It's been a typically British summer so far, but don't let the wet weather dampen your spirits too much as there has been lots going on at Talbot House in recent weeks, with more to come in the coming months.

Most recently we had the pleasure of welcoming the Lord Mayor of Manchester to Talbot House for the opening of our Great Manchester Lunch campaign. The event was to launch our fundraising initiative but also to highlight the fantastic work that the staff have done and will continue to do in the future. Fran and Bernie gave heartfelt and passionate speeches which everyone including the Lord Mayor was impressed with. The event was a great success and we look forward to those putting on lunches of their own in aid of Talbot House from July-September.

The Thrive Project continues to thrive, with Fran and her team of volunteers working harder than ever with the older carers. We are working hard to make sure that the Thrive gets the recognition it deserves, with the recent Quilt competition helping to promote this. There was even a trip to Llandudno which was very well received. Trips like this act as a vital form of socialising and respite for older carers and carers of all ages. There will be more in the future so keep an eye out for updates.

The new Talbot House Fundraising Committee had it's first meeting last week, and will be meeting regularly from now on to fundraise, create events and support Talbot House in any way they can. Again keep your eyes peeled for updates, we have some very exciting plans for you all.

As always we have our famous Carers Lunches once a month, where you can meet with other carers to catch up and have a laugh. This includes a raffle, bingo and good company as well as some brilliant food. The next one will be held on Wednesday 20th July from 10:30, so put that in your diaries.

Of course the Summer holidays are upon us and the kids will be finished at school for another year, so a lot of you will have your hands full. But as always we will be open Monday-Friday 10am-3pm for your every need, so pop in and say hello when you get the chance.

Thank you for your continued support, take care and we will see you soon.

The TH staff
