My First Blog – An Introduction

Hello and welcome to my very first attempt at “blogging”. I will try to keep you interested but if not the beauty of this technology is the word “delete”. And that’s without hurting anyone’s feelings because I won’t know that you have eliminated me from your life for today.

Well here goes. For those of you who already know me, you have your opinion and for those who don’t here is a small introduction.

I am the Mother of 5 wonderful children (they were especially wonderful when asleep) all grown up now, and the youngest just happens to have Down’s syndrome. His name is Geoff and he is 34 years of age and it this experience that has kind of led me to become a “blogger”.

It was Geoff’s birthday on the 10th January and it became a bitter sweet day for me – so proud of him and all his achievements and yet remembering 34 years ago when the Gods in white coats delivered the news that Geoffrey was “different”. Well I know today that he is different, and amazingly so…

Good looking, great body, funny, kind, into riding, skating, swimming and diving, as well as working at RSPCA for over 12 years. In fact, Geoff has done things I never thought possible in the beginning and has had a truly profound effect on my life and that of everyone he meets.

Well for today that is my blogging done and by the way did you all know that the definition of blogging is WEB/LOG… so I am fast becoming experienced.

Over the coming years I look forward to sharing my experiences as a parent-carer of a child with learning disabilities and discussing how things have changed over the last 34 years since Geoff was born.

I hope you will look forward to reading, deleting or even commenting on my blog!

Take care,

Love Bernie
