HOW WE SUPPORT PARENT CARERS?

The demands that come with being a parent carer for a child or adult with a severe learning disability can be extremely challenging and overwhelming for many. Many of our staff and volunteers have been on this same journey themselves so know only too well how difficult this can be. From our own experiences we use this knowledge to support and help others starting on this journey, as we were helped on ours. Our manager, and parent carer herself has the following adage;

“If you get mam and dad’s head right, the kids will be alright”

To address the needs of our carers we run 3 services that follows the full life journey of the carer, from when the learning disabled child is born till the carer sadly passes away. These 3 services are specially tailored to meet the needs of our carers. These being:

We also offer various Pamper treatments for our service users to help them unwind, relax and have some me time. This includes nail treatments such as; gel polish, acrylic nails, pedicures & hand massage etc. and pamper work like waxing, eye brow work, shoulder/neck massages etc.
